This platform facilitates scientific research, technology transfer, and academic exchange among international partners participating in the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative.
The China-Kazakhstan center of technologies and innovations development is a key component of the strategic partnership between Almaty University of Technology and Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU).
The Centre serves as a platform for integrating the academic resources and scientific and technical potential of partner universities, with a view to implementing innovative projects, exchanging best practices in science and education, and training highly qualified specialists in demand in a rapidly evolving labour market.
The Kazakhstan-China Centre for Technology and Innovation Development was established as part of the international ‘One Belt, One Road’ initiative, following an agreement between Almaty University of Technology (AUT) and Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU).
The Centre develops scientific and educational cooperation between universities, introduces innovative technologies, and strengthens international partnerships in science and education. Its main objectives include developing joint scientific research, implementing innovative projects, facilitating technology transfer, and training highly qualified specialists.
The centre’s activities have achieved significant results in scientific cooperation and research staff training:
Internships: Between September 2025 and February 2026, third-year PhD student Akerke Kulaipbekova, as well as second-year PhD students Galiya Töken, Makpal Baigayipkyzy, and Aydana Elbosyn, successfully completed research internships at Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU) in Beijing, China.
Publications: After the research internship, third-year PhD student Akerke Kulaipbekova published a research article entitled ‘Bioactive Compounds in Hawthorn Leaves (Crataegus spp.)—Extraction, Functionality, and Future Perspectives: From Waste to Wealth’ in the journal Agronomy (JCR Quartile Ranking – Q1). This journal is indexed in the Scopus database. Research articles by other PhD students are currently being prepared for publication.
Development of partnerships: The centre’s activities help systematically strengthen strategic partnerships. These efforts also increase publication output between universities. This ensures the publication of joint research papers in well-regarded international journals, including those indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. As a result, both universities see improved global rankings and recognition within the scientific and educational communities.
The Centre carries out joint research and innovation projects:
Sustainable development: Initiatives within the framework of international scientific cooperation, aimed at improving the quality of research and fostering innovation.
The centre’s research activities cover a number of promising areas:
Food technology and innovation in the food industry;
